In homage to Delaware’s 302 area code, Dogfish Head and 302 Horseshoe Crab are teaming for the fourth consecutive year to host the Official 302 Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 1, at the Dogfish Head Milton Tasting Room & Kitchen.
The free public event features local eats and drinks, live music, raffles and giveaways. The 302 Horseshoe Crab team will host their annual merchandise sale onsite and debut a series of limited-edition Dogfish Head x 302 Horseshoe Crab items.
Returning for its annual release will be 302 Lager, Dogfish Head’s iconic, Delaware-centric beer brewed in collaboration with 302 Horseshoe Crab. The crisp American lager is brewed with thoughtfully sourced 2-row barley malt, heirloom variety corn and sauvignon blanc grape must.
“302 Day is a true celebration of all things Delaware, bringing together great people, great beer and great local businesses to celebrate the state we love. This year, I’m especially excited for the new artwork items Kam Productions will unveiling on 302 Day centered around the coastal beauty of Cape Henlopen State Park,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head founder and brewer. “It’s always a joy to gather with the local community that has supported both our brands, share in the festivities and raise a glass in honor of the First State.”
New to this year’s event, Dogfish Head will welcome University of Delaware’s YoUDee Blue Hen mascot to lead folks in a series of field games from 1 to 2 p.m.
The event will include tasty eats from a lengthy lineup of local food trucks, face painting, live music by Homestead Bluegrass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., live band karaoke with The Nick Kashmanian Trio from 2 to 4 p.m., a live horseshoe crab touch tank with Delaware State Parks staff, and a live auction for two low-digit black surf tags, No. 2025 and No. 1001. The black surf tag auctions begin at 1:30 p.m. sharp, with proceeds to benefit Delaware State Parks.
“302 Day has become a tradition we look forward to every year. It’s a chance to connect with our community, celebrate local partnerships and welcome the warm weather ahead. We can’t wait to raise a glass, share some laughs and make new memories with everyone who calls Delaware home,” said Keith Mosher, co-founder of 302 Horseshoe Crab.
