Capital Ringers spring shows kick off April 26

April 17, 2025

Capital Ringers, Delmarva’s community handbell ensemble, will present spring performances that will transport audiences from the Baroque era through the Land of Oz and on to the present.

“Our spring concert season, Bach to the Future, plays off the idea of being transported throughout time,” said Kevin B. Chamberlain, artistic director. “But lucky for us, we do not all have to cram into a 1980s DeLorean to hear iconic works from the 17th, 20th and 21st centuries.”

Besides a Bach prelude and fugue, the concert features music by Led Zeppelin, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, as well as movie themes. Yes, there is a handbells version of “Stairway to Heaven.”

Performances will be: 4 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at St. Martha’s Episcopal Church, 117 Maplewood St., Bethany Beach;  4 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 South State St., Dover; 4 p.m., Sunday, May 4, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach; and 4 p.m., Saturday, May 10, at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford.

The Capital Ringers has the largest collection of handbells, handchimes and auxiliary bells on the Delmarva Peninsula. They have been performing for 21 years.
