‘Jesus: First Century Rabbi’ author talk set May 4

April 27, 2025

The Lewes Public Library and Seaside Jewish Community will host Rabbi David Zaslow for a book talk and signing of “Jesus: First Century Rabbi” at 11 a.m., Sunday, May 4, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and online via Zoom. Zaslow’s presentation will highlight the mutual spiritual path of Christianity and Judaism by examining Jesus' commitment to his Jewish faith. The book inspires with humor and warmth while enhancing knowledge of the historical Jesus, the Jewish Jesus, and the religion of Judaism. Zaslow promotes appreciation of both religions and how interfaith study leads to tolerance and understanding.

"Rabbi David has a great ability to present serious scholarship in an accessible and relatable way for interfaith audiences. He has written about the Jewish roots of Christianity in a way that helps all of us gain a greater appreciation for each other’s traditions, as well as our own," said Rabbi Julie Hilton Danan of Seaside Jewish Community.

Registration is required, and participants will be asked to select virtual or in-person attendance when registering. To sign up, go to lewes.lib.de.us.

The spiritual leader of Havurah Shir Hadash, a synagogue in Ashland, Ore., Zaslow travels the country leading workshops with churches and synagogues on the Jewish roots of Christianity.
