It's time to catch up
Last Sunday, even though I hate cheering for either team, the New York Giants disappointed me by losing to the Dallas Cowboys in a somewhat close game. Unfortunately, Dallas has pulled ahead of my Eagles in the division. Supposedly the Eagles put the bye week to good use, so all of their important nicked up players will play this week including Darren Sproles, their secret weapon running back. If they are going to catch up, they better be ready to play against Arizona, which is in first place in the NFC West at 5 - 1. Should be a great game to watch.
Since we are in the midst of the baseball World Series it's hard to provide game by game updates. So I will wrap it up in two weeks when it's over. I'm hoping for a long series.
In golf news, Tiger Woods has started practicing in preparation for his return in the first week of December. The majority of golf fans hope he can play a full season next year. At his age, he cannot afford another injury.
In local sports news, congratulations are in order for Cape football for their resounding 55-10 victory over Polytech at homecoming. And, the juggernaut Cape girls' hockey squad is starting to produce scores like you see in some football games. The boys will have to keep pace with the girls against Sussex Tech this Friday. Go Vikings!
It's hard to believe, but now that it is almost November, college football gets serious. There are no more cupcake games for most teams. Last week, the number two ranked team, Florida State, played number five Notre Dame. Both teams were undefeated coming into the game. It was a great game which came down to the last play, with FSU coming out on top. If both teams continue to win out, they could be included in the first ever college football playoff. This will be the top four teams in the country as part of the postseason bowl game system. There will probably be a team from the SEC. Personally, I am happy that they discarded the crazy computer points system, but I wouldn't want to be on the selection committee for the first year.
