Perplexed by the Eagles trading of LeSean McCoy to Buffalo

March 6, 2015

For reasons I do not understand, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to trade their Pro Bowl running back LaSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills. They traded him for the Bills middle linebacker Kiko Alonso. I think the trade can work out if the Eagles can sign free agent DeMarco Murray away from the Dallas Cowboys. If that doesn't happen, I don't know who else they could get who would be even close to the level of play that LeSean showed during his tenure at the "Linc". The trade to get Alonso makes some sense since the Eagles inside linebacker and defensive signal caller from last year, DeMeco Ryans, suffered a serious season ending achilles injury.

The NHL regular season is almost over. The Philadelphia Flyers don't have much of a chance to win the Stanley Cup this year. They have been trying without success since 1975! They do have the slight chance of making the playoffs in the last playoff position. The teams who have a good chance to defeat the defending champs (the LA Kings) and win the Stanley Cup this year are; the New York Rangers (who have not won a championship since 1994), and the Chicago Blackhawks (who have been very successful in the last five years winning two Stanley Cups).

Being just the first week for Baseball spring training, there really isn't much to report, but with the arrival of six more inches of snow in Sussex County, I just really had to talk about something that makes Spring seem feasible. I am very pleasantly surprised how accepting everyone seems to be about the new rules for speeding up the games. It's a smart move to have the hitters having to stay in the batter's box between pitches, and the pitchers are required to shorten the warm up time between innings. I hope these changes work so that we don't all have to stay up so late to watch the games.
